This year at the New Baptist Covenant Summit I lead a workshop called Revealing the Veil: A Practice in Visual Narrative Pastoral Care.
This workshop is an opportunity to practice creativity in community and no artistic precision is needed! We will create a group mural using mixed media and acrylic paint. In the making of this large-scale art piece we will address our position with respect to the “Veil”- imagery used by W.E.B. Du Bois to describe the separation in perception of Black and white people in the United States.
The practice of Visual Narrative Pastoral Care allows us to tell our stories through image practicing creative healing and respectful listening. The end product will show us our stories woven together, and then we will create take-homes from parts of the canvas.
