PENTECOST MOBILES ART COLLABORATION

Updated: Nov 5, 2018

At Park Avenue we are always striving to incorporate more art into worship to create new images that can teach theological lessons. In the season of Pentecost we read from Acts 2:1-4.

The fabric dangles from the Pentecost mobiles and looks like tongues of fire. We add our gifts to the mobiles in a significant gesture of offering. During reflection time in the Park Avenue service, people remove fabric pieces from the alter. Incorporating the alter into the activity helps people to recognize the significance of the art.

We wrote our gifts that we want to offer onto the fabric and then we tie them onto the pieces of fabric hanging from the rings. Then, like our gifts rising up, the whole piece is lifted again.
